Marlene Mendez is an award-winning photographer whose work has been featured in group exhibits in both New Jersey and the Philadelphia area, and also in solo shows in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. In 2012, Marlene completed her first photography book, Churchville 365, available in both hardcover and softcover editions. This book represents the culmination of a year-long project begun mid-June, 2009, during which time she captured images daily at Churchville Nature Center in Bucks County, PA.
Marlene’s love of photography began in 1979. It was then that she bought her first 35mm SLR to record the wondrous moments of her newborn son’s days. Through the years photography has intensified so many of life’s moments and has offered Marlene a way to share her visual memories.
A former teacher of English as a 2nd Language, Marlene views photography as another language, yet another way to express herself. With each image she aspires to convey a sense of wonder, --- that fleeting moment of light and emotion that inspires her to press the shutter.
Marlene resides in Holland, PA.
